MTF/Nikon?Japan???

  1. As near as I can tell, there's no indication of the F stop used for those
Nikon MTF charts on their Japanese website....

    Anyone know what it is?

  3. OK, I've stopped being lazy and went looking.

The graphs Nikon gives that I saw were for the lens wide open. (It's
explained in the link at the lower left under the chart.) The Japanese often
test lenses wide open only, although Canon gives both wide open and f/8.

So what are the links, David? <G>

The Canon approach sounds better, as lenses won't be used fully open a lot
of the time, although wide-open performance is what you pay for, of
    course!

    Cheers,
    David
