Was working fine, but this morning it wouldn't switch on, even with
new batteries. It is out of warranty. I believe it is expensive to get
it repaired. So I would like to open it myself and see what is wrong.
Before I do, any help would be much appreciated, as to how to go about
it, any clues etc. I have never opened this type of camera before.
    Thanks for reading.

Before you start get hold of a voltmeter and check the batteries, also clean
the battery contacts (on the battery and in the camera) with an eraser
(pencil type). If you open the camera keep your hands away from the flash
capacitor (large gray or black tubular component) and flash tube. If you
open it use a rubber mat or a cardboard box and keep track of the components
you dismount. Flexible PCB's are very fragile, most of the time locking
connectors are used on one side, to disconnect slide the locking slider
    towards the cable.
    Good Luck!
