Nero and SVCD menu problem

In recent versions (including the latest) I've encountered a problem whereby
the program will close (no error display) while it's creating a menu. It
seems it has a problem when creating the video still MPEG thumbnail from the
video file, as it's fine with just text titles and no video thumbnail.

The odd thing is that it was working fine, it's as though something
installed has affected it. I've installed various MPEG2 CODECs meantime, but
I can't imagine Nero utilizing these to grab the MPEG still when it has its
own....

I've tried reinstalling Nero, but it's made no difference.

System: Win98, Athlon 1.4GHz, 256MB DDRAM.

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried Nero Express or Nero Vision Express? I had problems with an
old version but I think I dropped back a verion or two then waited for a
newer release, an upgrade to DirectX may also affect it. Any driver update
you have done could also affect it.

Same occurs with the former. The latter crashes before that point.

I recently upgraded to DirectX 9, it's about the only change which I can
think would affect it, but of course I cannot undo the change to verify it
:-(
