NeroVision Express DirectX error even though correctly installed DirectX

Hi all, after installing Nero 6 with Nerovision express, I started
Nerovision and then got the error "You need DirectX 9.0 or higher to
    run the application".
Since I had directx 8 before, I installed DirectX 9.0c from
Microsoft's website and the error persisted, even after another reboot
    reboot.

I am guessing Nero expected to have 9.0a which it has on its install
CD and not the newer version I installed. From some forum advice I ran
    DxDiag at C:\Program Files\DirectX\setup (or C:\WINNT
    \system32\dxdiag.exe its the same thing).

This program shows diagnostics on DirectX, I didn't see how that would
solve the problem but after I closed it, tada! Nerovision express
    worked.
I guess some of the tabs I clicked on this program woke up the DLLS or
    something.
So if you have this problem you can run the C:\WINNT
\system32\dxdiag.exe program and try to click all of its tabs.
    (system, directX files, display, etc...)
perhaps that will also work for you.

    Thanks
