If you're a pensioner with no other income and running CS3, you probably
are going to have more trouble affording the upgrade to CS6 than the
    rent.

I was thinking that, I wonder if a pirate copy of CS3, 4 5 or 6 will work.
if not, it's not the deal for me.

Deals are seldom made for thieves, though.

I'd rather they had a performance pay model - so many cents per Tflop
(whatever) of actual processing photos - up to some cap ($) per month.

The notion of renting s/w is repugnant for personal computers.

That's my question. It seems to me that Adobe is feeling the heat of
protest, and has made a small concession. I have usually been upgrading
when i see features that i will use. Under the new plan, the cost is not
significantly more. However, I still would like to have the option of
stopping with the right to continue my use. IOW a non-terminating license.

I can't help reminding RichA, that I said in substance that: I was not
sure the original plan was "a done deal."
