It would be nice if they also kept the D2X feature that allows you to
half the res and double the lens!!

    Crop.
The feature on the D2x (and 1DsMII I think) also has the effect of
increasing burst shooting speed and count).

  5. It looks like a really nice camera. I'd probably get one if I didn't
    already have a D2X.

You should be able to use the lenses you have for your D70 with no
    problem at all.

Oh, I noticed that the D2X is almost 14 megapixels, wow , but it's a lot
bigger than the D200, I you wanted to upgrade your D70 body , would you
rather buy the D200 or the D2X ?

  7. It depends on the kind of photography you do and your budget. The D2X
    is:

    - probably more rugged (not that the D200 is likely to be fragile)
    - able to take faster and more continuous shots
    - probably has a few more features
    - about 3 times as expensive as the D200.

Consider that last point for a minute... For the price of a D2X body,
you could by a D200, a second D200 as a spare, that really nice Nikkor
12-24mm DX lense, and a nice bag to carry it around in.

The difference in resolution between the two cameras is not
significant. So unless you are going to use the camera a whole lot
(and perhaps under tough conditions) and unless you are into photo
journalism or sports photography (and therefore need higher FPS
rates), the D200 probably makes more sense.

When I bought my D2X, the D200 was not yet available. Even then it
crossed my mind a few times that I could buy five D70s for the same
price. Of course, I am not known to friends and family as someone who
always does what makes the best sense. ;-)

    Cheers,

    Leonard
