I can't remember the last time I held a camera up at eye-level.
I find that really unconvenient since I'm used to holding the camera only at
    a more natural position.

The thing is, if you own and use a swivel-bodied camera (I've had a 995 for
several years) you soon find the LCD is very much more useful than the
viewfinder, especially if you have a filter step-up ring on the lens (this
partly obscures the view.) I too prefer shooting from waist level.

The only time I find myself using the viewfinder is for action shots (where
the brief delay on the LCD causes you to miss the shot) or in full sunlight,
when you can't see anything on the screen.

I'm glad Nikon have resurrected this design.

I certainly wouldn't consider ANY camera without a viewfinder. Rather
like a car with no steering wheel.

You mean, like out at arms length in front of you? Nice steady
    position. Sigh.

Shooting from the waist is not only easy & steady.
It also gives nicer pictures because of the angle you take the pictures
    from.

One centruy ago it was a perfectly acceptable way of taking pictures through
a viewfinder. However, since new techniques become available there are
easier ways of doing things. Just like in the next century cars probably
    won't have a steering wheel....

Maybe we'll have swivel-bodied cars. Would make parking a lot easier!
