    Hi,

I have a question about scanners: Is a new/cheap scanner better than an
old/expensive scanner? I am asking this question because my SCSI card
controlling my HP6100C went bad. I am debating weather to get a new SCSI
card or a new scanner like the Epson 1660 or Epson 2400. Any advise would
    be appreciated.

    Best Regards

If you like the scanner, then search eBay for Adaptec 2940au - many used
    SCSI cards available for $10-$15.

Newer film scanners are better than old ones. The 6100 is not so old, and
the difference in flatbeds for scanning prints is not as great.
