    Most things video (and even audio) are over priced for what they are, taking
    account of modern electronics / manufacturing etc.

    The quoted price is not 'expencive' when taking the above in into account,
    it's quite cheap really, although over priced - IYSWIM... !

    In the same way a house or a car is overpriced if you look at the sum cost
    of their components.

    If you're the sort of person who isn't handy with a soldering iron then the
    Beachtek boxes represent quite good value. £175 for a two channel mic/line
    mixer with a bal-unbal converter that bolts onto your camera is not bad.

    It also beats having a jumble of homemade bits and pieces hanging down from
    an overstrained mini-jack connector.
