Newbie Question - Resolution / Resizing

Discussion in 'Photoshop' started by Andrew Portess, Jul 1, 2004.

  1. I have some images that I would like to print at 10 x 15 cm photo
(borderless). When I go to print the image it does not fill the photograph
and if I select fill available size it still does not. I can crop my images
to ensure the picture concentrates on the main subject but how do I resize
the cropped image to fill my 10 x 15 cm photo. I am using Photoshop 7 and
printing to an Epson R200 printer. Images acquired with a Canon A80 with
    2.4x telephoto lens adapter.

I can use layers in Photoshop to improve images and mask sections of layers
to stop the whole image being affected but I'll be damned if I can get my
head around this resizing / resolution lark.

    Thanks in advance,

    Andy

  2. Have sorted this now; needed to uncheck constrain so that the software could
re-jig the image to my size rather than forcing a width based on my chosen
    image height or vica versa.

    Cheers.

The cropped image must have an aspect ratio of 1.5 to 1.

first check the box so that you can change the dpi With the sizing (wxh)
The printer wants 360dpi max. Then uncheck and if you cant reduce the w &/or
height to what you want then your file isn't big enough to start with

  5. Thanks all. Got it now, it took a process of deselcting resampling and
constraining, setting DPI to 300 (will try 360 next time though) and then
    resizing image and selecting resampling.

    Cheers,

Be careful with that you will distort your image. Much like if it was on
silly putty and you started stretching. Unintended things like getting
punched in the mouth can happen when you make the wife look fat.
