Here in Austalia I am unable to find an instruction manual for my new
    secondhand Nikon 4004/401.

Can anyone who has used one please tell me.

    1. What is the "S" in the yellow box on the aperature wheel is for?

    2. Is there any way on manual exposure setting to adjust the aperature
via the lens ring and not the dial on top of the body? As soon as you
move the lens ring, the + and - flash indicating it has been moved off
    the smallest aperature.

Sorry for two questions at once.

    Thanks for your response.

!. The "S" stands for shutter priority mode. You set the shutter speed and the
    camera picks the aperture

    2. No. The lens must always be set to the smallest aperture, e.g. F22 and
aperture is then set by the control dial on the top plate.
