Nikon Capture NX2 Warning

    I've just updated to Capture NX2 version 2.3.0 M from 2.2.7 M -
somewhere between these versions it has introduced two serious errors:

    1. NEF shadow detail is now rendered far too dark, often completely lost.

    2. The JPEG output converter has a severe problem with levels, mainly
    in the green channel.

It has made the hundreds of hours I've spent editing camera NEFs
completely and utterly pointless. This version of NX2 is incapable of
generating a near likeness of the in-camera JPEGs, which is something
    it did very well before.

I've also noticed that the latest version of ViewNX still refuses to
honour the option "Apply color management settings to thumbnails" - it
un-checks the tickbox after the preferences are saved.

As time goes by I guess we will encounter increasing separation between
the promises offered by high-end products and their actual delivery. It
totally defies my imagination that a company such as Nikon is incapable
of thoroughly testing software before it is released. Thank goodness it
doesn't make transportation products and services.

My hairdresser thought about starting on-line haircuts.

Ah yes: a few years ago, I heard about someone trying to start a cow-milking
business by offshoring it to India. Didn't work out: apparently it turned out
the cows didn't take too well to being shuffled 8000Kms every morning...

The farmer did well to never call any of the cows by the wrong name for
    over a year.
