Nikon D2X firmware upgrade

Discussion in 'Nikon' started by Richard Stoddard, Nov 27, 2005.

  1. Nikon has a firmware update available for the D2X. The instructions
are straightforward and it looks like it should be relatively simple
and risk-free. However, this will be the first time I've tried to
upgrade firmware in a camera and am a bit nervous about the
possibility of something going wrong, leaving me with a $5,000
paperweight. Is it as simple as it seems?

    Thanks.

I did the upgrade, and it was simple and uneventful. I'd say the
instructions actually made it sound *harder* than it turned out to be.
I think it took me longer to read them than to follow them.

  3. That's what I expected, but figured better safe than sorry. I'll go
    ahead with it. Thanks.

New firmware for the D2X? I thought Nikon never released products
before they were ready? Nikon must be going down the tubes because
they're resorting to rushing products out the door! Shame on Nikon!

Nikon continually issues firmware upgrades, sometimes adding new
features. When they released the D70s, they released a firmware upgrade
for the D70 that gave it the same menus as the D70s.
