    Hi
when using AIS lens on my D300 the F stop indicated on the LCD and is out
    by 4 stops!!

Can someone else check this if they have say a AIS lens say a 50mm compact
type. its also reporting incorrect F stops.
I have to adjust the compensation but the camera does meter.

I'm going through an exercise to check that all my Lens work on the D300

Note these are not Pre AI lens and should work on the D300.....

It shouldn't matter but I assume you have set the mm & f/stop in the
menu? A nice way to do that is set the extra button on the front to
change with the two command dials... no menu diving. Anyways I've had no
trouble with a bunch of Ai lenses on the D200 & it even works without
    setting the numbers.

  3. The old lenses I have tested so far include a 16mm f/2.8 fisheye, a 20mm
    f/3.5, a 50mm f1.4 pre-AI (converted), a 55mm macro, a 135mm pre-AI
    (converted), a 180 mm f/2.8 AIS, and a 200mm f/4 AI . All of them work fine
except the 135, which registers a minimum aperture of f/16 when set at
    f/3.5.

Pencil menu (CSM) f4 on the D200 to set the spare FUNC button on front
to control lens data with the command dials.
