  3. So it is a fake? I posted the same pic yesterday in another thread. It
looked pretty convincing to me at the time.

  4. Pretty sure...looks like a worked-over N55 front with a worked-over D70 from
the back. It looks like the film door release has suddenly become an IO
    cover between the two views.

More to the point, there has been no announcement. I think it's clear that
Nikon will indeed introduce a D50 as they have just trademarked the name
with the USPTO. But typically, the actual Nikon announcement of their most
recent 3 digital SLRs have come between 5 and 6 months after the trademark
was registered. Let's see what happens at PMA over the next week. A sub-$700
dSLR kit from Nikon would certainly be a great addition to their lineup, but
history certainly suggests that scepticism is warranted.

  5. I'd settle for a $500 body, and then I'd stick my 50mm/1.8 on there and
become the King Of The Crop. ;-)

No, there is no such announcement on NikonImaging or on
Dpreview or elsewhere. A few web pages provide a plethora
of "photo shopped" images of many Nikon phantom cameras,
such as D200, D90 or D3. Maybe these are leaked images of
a real thing, maybe it is just another hoax.
