I took some pictures with my 18 month old D70 afterward it sat on the
tripod for a few days. Recently I tried to turn it on and all I got
was a blinking LED by the CF door. Trying a freshly charged battery
got the same result. I a lso tried putting in a different Cf card with
the same result. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like the gblod - 'green blinking light of death' a known problem
fixed free by nikon with varying delays depending on country (even if out of
    warranty)

Thank you for anyone that did answer or was about to. I did a google
and found out about GLOD. I guess I'll be sending it for for repairs.

  4. Perhaps somebody else in your home came by and knocked over your tripod
.... covered their tracks and picked it back up. Time to inquire of your
    loved ones ...
