I inherited a black body F2 with a DP11 finder which appears to work (needle
moves). I would like to have a manual camera like this. Do you think
spending $100 or so for CLA is worth it? What are your opinions of a F2?

    Thanks.

I had the same dilemma about a "lesser" camera, my old Pentax MEsuper.
Got it CLA'd, and very quickly re-learned why I love the damn thing so
much. The old guys, they have a lot of spirit to them

    Very well worth a CLA.

  4. I'd agree - this was the strongest of the Ninkon manual SLR series. I had
an Ftn for 30 years until stolen, and now have both Ftn's (2) and an F4.
All my Ftn's got a CLA a year or two ago.The F2 makes an ideal backup body
to an F4. Definitely worth hanging onto.

Not worth it at all. Just send the thing to me and I'll see that it is
"properly disposed of" without filling up landfills wherever you may be.
<wink> I won't even charge you for my "services". <g>

Actually, you have one heck of a camera, definitely one of the finest manual
cameras ever made and the second best ever to come out of Nikon (my F2AS is
best). An added advantage (to you) is that used manual lenses are very
reasonable especially if you don't require them to look "pretty" (just make
sure the glass is good w/o any cleaning marks, scratches, or fungus and that
the diaphragm blades work smoothly, quickly, and are oil-free and that the
    focusing is smooth).

    That's a no-brainer.

As they say, probably one of the very best ever produced.

ahhhhh an F2A (DP11), perhaps get your cla person to check the meter first.
If it is functioning 100% then yes it's worth the money. If the meter is not
functioning or way off then it's debateable. The meters are not the easiest
    units to repair.

    PS I have a number of wonderful bodies. F2, F2A, F2S, F2SB, F2AS etc.....
