Nikon software not tested?

So Capture NX is slow and crashes now and then. NX transfer crashes
regularly and doesn't even permit you to download photos. After playing with
the Camera Control Pro software with the D300, I'm sad to say, even this is
    crashing.

Try to put the camera on a tripod, attach it and go in Liveview. Now try to
focus a few times after eachother without shooting. With my experience at
least it was consistent: every second time the program froze the computer!

I've been a soft- and hardware tester in the past, for Adobe, Microsoft and
Apple and I can say, that if ANY of the software by these companies even had
half the mistakes the Nikon software has, they would never release it.

Even if they gave it for free, there is no excuse for a company that makes
very good camera's, to screw up so badly with the software and even charge
    money for it.
If I had a saying in it, I would ditch all the software, fire the asses from
the Nik company and have it all remade by a reputable company like Adobe or
any other for that matter, who at least know how to make a program that
    doesn't crash.

I can't remember when I had any problems with LTR or PS. And a lot of other
    software by other companies.

    Nikon: be ashamed!

Hundreds of thousands of Nikon Capture NX enjoy their program but
    "Sosumi"
has no end of problems. Therefore it is Nikon's fault!

NX does not crash regularly on either XP or Vista.
In my experience NX is far more stable than the bug fest that is Adobe
Bridge. The problems with Bridge drive many people to Lightroom.
You must not be a very capable software tester.
    Merry Christmas.

My Capture NX works perfectly. Fabulous program, and has been hassle-free for
the six months I have owned it.

Do Nikon and the Japanese celebrate Christmas? If not, why are they
cut a break if their stuff isn't working for this guy?

I have not heard of problems as severe as yours, but you might want to
check Nikon's web site for updates to all your software.

You are not the only guy in the world who has problems with these
programs' stability, by the way. Most of the problems with this
software can be traced to Nikon's use of VISE software installers,
which are notoriously bad: incomplete installs, refusal to install at
all, and unstable software after the install are typical results. This
is as true of Quicken as it is of Nikon Capture NX. Most of the
problems can be traced to incompatibilities between VISE and some
    anti-virus or Internet security software.
