Yesterdays scanner still good for today. 2700 dpi will scan at 12 bit
and output at 12 bit has digital ice - good dmax (much better scanner
    than the LS30)

    There worth - when new $1750 S/H $500 max

Check for jaggies at the edge of high contrast. Make sure the mirror is
kept clean. They had problems with the stepper motor in the early stages.

They still support it with software (XP).

  5. I agree it's a better scanner than the LS-30, but I'm not sure how MUCH
    better. The differences: LS-2000 is a 12 bit (instead of 10), LS-2000
single-pass multi-scanning, LS-2000 can be equipped with batch feeder
for slides. The optics and mechanicals are the same in both scanners,
which makes the LS-30 excellent for scanning colour negatives, and
fine for slides. The LS-2000 sold new for about twice the price of the
New price was about 3,000 Australian Dollars, and second hand price
probably around 1,000 Australian Dollars. Perhaps you are thinking of
    some other currency?
    All good points, Wiz.

LS 30 also only output at 8 bits whereas the LS2000 12 in and out which
made fine scanning detail in black better.

Indifferent reports as to the value and reliability of the batch feeder
    for the LS2000.

The optics and mechanicals are the same in both scanners,
    No not twice.

Mine was 1750 tax ex = $2275 inc. L&P when bought.

They are not selling for that S/H I think there has been one here
recently much lower than that. Now there are too many other new
scanners in the market to demand $1000 for a S/H LS2000.
