Nikon zoom lens won't do macro autofocus

    Hi All

A couple of weeks ago I got my Nikon F50 and AF Nikkor Nikon 28-200 mm
3,5-5,6 D zoom lens back from repair (Danish Nikon Distributor),
having sent it in with an auto focus problem.

Having used it during two weeks of summer holidays I have not managed
to get the camera to focus "down" into the macro range, which is
marked with an orange dash ending in an orange "M" on the focus ring
    of the lens.

    I have tried a number of focal lengths (28, 35, 50, 70, 85, 105, 135,
200 mm) both in Auto and Macro program modes, but I can't get the lens
    to get "real close".

Even being switched to manual focus I can't get the focus ring turned
    to the macro range (?).

My F50 manual gives no clues on this and although I found the original
box for the zoom lens there was no manual inside :-(

Hope someone in this group can offer advice/experience ?

    Thanks in advance

    Stig
