No Drag & Drop: CS/OSX 10.3

Discussion in 'Photoshop Tutorials' started by Greg F Walz Chojnacki, Dec 23, 2003.

  1. Since installing OS X 10.3 and Photoshop 10.3, I've lost the drag and drop
functionallity. That is, I can't drag and drop a file to the P'shop icon
    and have it load.

The finder focus will switch to P'shop, but the file won't load. This is not
a problem with any other app.

    Has anyone encountered/fixed this?

    Thanks.

    Greg,

I have the same problem. I have OS X 10.3.2 and Photoshop CS.

I also have a new scanner: Canon Lide 50. Although I have the Photoshop
plug-in working I wanted to setup the buttons on the front of the
scanner to scan to a file and start up Photoshop CS with the file opened.

It was at this point I had the same problem - Photoshop launches but the
    file doesn't load.

I then tried associating the file type with Photoshop e.g. find a file
and use 'Get Info' to change the program associated with the file type -
    again nothing.

Selecting a file and using 'Open With' again get nothing.

The Photoshop CD has a manual for AppleScript - perhaps this is a way in
to PhotoShop using a named file? I don't know Applescript to make a
    start on this.

It's very poor for PhotoShop CS to not open a file - as every other
application does, and (for me) version 6 did.

Ok. I trashed my Photoshop CS and all preferences then reinstalled i
and it's working correctly now. This was the only solution I coul
    find.

This is a known bug in the OS X Panther updater.
If you updated to Panther after installing Photoshop, then the OS
updater fails to copy some important files.

The solution is to reinstall Photoshop after installing Panther.
