I am editing DV tapes shot at a conference. I have 3 video streams: main
cam, second cam, and (cg) powerpoint slides.

My original plan was to synch up the three streams, and use Ulead Media
Studio Pro to create one editied video stream (with transitions), to end up
as DVD fodder. Duhhh! Of course this isn't the right program to do
that...but what is? anyone got any ideas?

That's easy - Vegas. Multi-cam is one of it's strengths.
Read the tutorial in issue 9 at http://www.jetdv.com/tts/archive.htm

Or do it even easier with a plug-in ($50) called Excalibur (and it's
    multi-cam wizard).
    More info at http://www.vegastoolsandtraining.com/#excalibur

  3. It should work fine. For some ideas, look here
(Premiere and MSPro are similar enough):
