I need to use an external flash on my Pentax K100D.
What sort of adapter should I be looking for?
I'd prefer wireless but could use wired in necessary.
    Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations please?

    Thanks

Depends what you want to do really. Pentax make some extremely good flashes,
the AF360-FGZ is their medium size unit and the AF 540-FGZ is their huge
unit, both have wireless but the K100D does not have inbuilt wireless so you
will need two units if you must do wireless.

I have a 3rd-party adapter for an older Pentax flash that might come
close to working. It consists of a dual (male + female) hot shoe with a
cable connecting to another connector that fits the camera's hot shoe.
It mounts on a separate grip, with the flash on top of that. It has
additional contacts for the TTL and ready-light functions, both on the
camera connector and the remote hot shoe.

This one is about 20 years old, and I don't know what company made it.
It may not have enough contacts for the K100D, but you should be able to
find a more recent version that does. Perhaps even from Pentax.
