Olympus 5050: focus has become locked! Suggestions?

Discussion in 'Olympus' started by Stephen Edgar, Aug 29, 2003.

  1. Hi Folks,
I was playing with the MyMode modes on my 5050 and having set each
mode, I switched the camera off. Now when the camera is switched on it
refuses to focus in any mode, aperture priority, manual, autofocus,
manual focus. The image on the LCD only show an in-focus image when
the camera is held a few centimetres from a subject. Its almost as if
the camera is locked into Super Macro (although this mode has not been
    chosen)
I removed all the custom MyMode settings I had entered but this made
    no difference.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how to re-set the camera?
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Regards
    Stephen

I don't have that camera, but removing the batteries for a couple of hours
(well, actually anything from 2 minutes to 12 hours...) should work.

Take a look at pg 193 of the manual PDF found on your installation disk. There are two small
buttons between the zoom lever/shutter button and the mode dial. Press these buttons together and
hold them for about 3 seconds. This will initialize all the setting listed on pg 193. Removing the
batteries for a while should take you back to the original factory defaults.
