Hi, I've been experimenting with manual focussing and a wide aperature in an attempt to use zone focussing or depth of field focusing. My aim was to be able to take quick shots during the recent Christmas parties without waiting for the auto focus to settle - always after Auntie Ida had spilt her wine etc etc. However I found that the shots were always under exposed whatever I did with the flash intensity. Previously, using the camera in 'P' mode with the flash set to default intensity I found that indoor shots were washed out by too much flash and I had to reduce the flash setting by trial and error. My question is really in two parts: what was I doing wrong with my attempts at zone focussing in conjucntion with flash and, more broadly, is the flash controlled in any way or is it as crude as the old Magicube flash bulbs and under no camera control. Rgds Richard
