Recently I gifted my Olympus Stylus Epic (DLX) to a friend and I am
about to buy another one. I was wondering, is there any difference in
optics of the two models (the black one and the DLX one) apart from the
    date feature?

Because if there is no difference at all, then all I have to consider is
if I want the date feature (don't care much about the panorama feature).
The black one (without date) costs around $30 (Canadian) less than the
    other one here in Montreal.

There is no difference apart from the date and panorama features and
    silver versus black finish.

They are great cameras. Let's hope they stay available for a year or
    two more.

Thanks. Just bought the DLX one (kit + a film), it was on sale at
FotoClick, for 129.99CAD. :) For those in Montreal, the cheapest price
I found was at Simons (139.99 IIRC), but FotoClick sale was enough not
    to make me think twice.

  4. The kit used to come with a wristwatch, don't know if it still does... also
some Oly zoom compact kits come with a pair of bog-standard binos.
