opinions on purchase

I have read numerous posts and web reviews about buying a digital
video camera and come down to a few last questions.

It seems that every time I narrow it down to one, there is something
about it that causes me to pause in my decision. I like some of the
Sony's, like the trv38, but don't like the touch screen menu system.
I Had though the Optura 20 might be a good budget camera, but it gets
poor reviews in low light conditions, and the lamp can not be shut off
manually. Then I though it might be worth it to spend the extra
dollars on a Panasonic PV00953, but that does not get the best reviews
in low light conditions. Hard to know exactly what a reviewer
    considers "low light" though.

I will do most of my taping inside at music performances, (only the
lighting on the stage), or at youth basketball games. Not nighttime
conditions, but not like being outside.

Anyone have any suggestions about these specific cameras or others?

    Thanks
