i was thinking of getting a lense from hong kong next week, but just realized
it might not be the best time of year to do it. will postage time be delayed
significantly and am i more prone to GST charges?

i wanted to order now, and get it delivered to work, but in 4weeks time we're
closed till early jan so no-one will be there, and on the other hand don't
want it to be delivered to my home address and risk not being there when they
    drop it off...

Santa tries harder before Xmass, so the delivery might be quicker. Just
after Xmass however the elves are all tired and take longer. That is my
    experience.

I do not know about delays but knowing that customs is a government
organisation -government orgs such as this are normally short-staffed
    - so logic says that with the extra work-load the odds more
favourable to you escaping the GST.
