    Hi all

Recently my XD card went funny but I managed to recover some photo's using
    'recover my photos' software.

However, now the JPG files (starting with an underscore) won't open even
though they appear to be around the correct size.

Anyone recommend a way or a piece of software for repairing JPG's?

    TIA

Do the files still have their .jpg extension? If not then add it. I've
never gone through this process, but that would be my first thing I'd look
for. Otherwise I'd go to "Recover my Photos" support.

All files are recovered with their JPG extension. No amendment needed.

The recovery software modifies the file allocation table to make
"deleted" entries accessible (the entry itself isn't immediately
deleted, just flagged as deletable). FAT entries are pointers to where
a file is, so if the FAT is corrupt the entries may be pointing to the
wrong location, or even if the entry is correct it could be pointing to
a location that has been over-written by subsequent data. So the best
the software can really do is present you with a block of data that
might be the file you want to recover.

Assuming you haven't overwritten the card download from here:
    http://vaiosoft.com/products/recoverymanager.html

It's as good as any and if it doesn't recover you are probably out of luck.
