    I am not sure of what has happened to my two attempts to respond to
    Rich's response to this post, but the seem to have disappeared into the
    cyber void.

    Here is the gist of what I stated there;

    Just to throw a wrench into this discussion, it is quite possible to
    buy an all aluminum and glass underwater housing.
    There is these offerings from the land of the Maple leaf (& Rich), by
    Aquatica. All you have to sacrifice is somewhere between 2,000-$4500
    for a housing and then add for the appropriate glass lens dome.

    Excuse the fractured English. :-(

    First, "they (not the) seem to have disappeared into the cyber void."

    Then, "There are (not is) these offerings..."

    The metal housings don't have to be made all in one piece. There is no
    reason why they should not have plastic or glass windows (complete
    with seals). See http://www.jwfishers.com/tov1.htm

    I had great trouble finding this image. Virtually all camera housings
    these days seem to be made of plastic. It's a pity they didn't consult
    you first.
