    To complete the story:

According to the DHL tracking, the camera didn't even leave Pixmania in
France until Friday afternoon, so not much hope of "next day delivery"
from Thursday! After trying to track the parcel, DHL last tracked it at
their Edinburgh depot. They later found a parcel which had been
"mis-sorted" because it had no label, so they opened the package, found my
address and delivered the camera today, Wednesday. Credit to DHL for

On the other hand, the camera had no English instruction manual (even
though it was ordered from a UK Web site, and actually a UK phone number),
and Pixmania's view was "Not our problem, you can download it from the
Internet". Not and get a printed manual you can take with you or study at
leisure you can't! There was French mains cable with the charger, and a
    UK adaptor was supplied.

I'm now getting a spam a day from Pixmania as well.

    David - FYI:

At least you have your camera and it works, right? Hope all the rest
works out for you in the end. Enjoy your new toy!

The numbers look about right! Thanks for the pointer. Yes, a few
pictures in the bag. I can see the Tele Macro mode (macro with a 432mm
focal length) having its uses as well. You can download the manual to see
    what I mean.
