    Hi All,
I am a newbie and my wife wants a digital camcorder, people say that 3 ccd's
is the one to go for, I want firewire too, the Panasonic NV-GS120 has these
features, can anyone recommend this product, or could you recommend a better
product, I went to Dixons and frankly they don't offer much help.
I looked at Sony but have read horror stories about being hard to
connect/download from the camera to PC via their software? plus they say
that video quality is not good?
Dixons are offering the Panasonic for £574 from the web.
My wife wants to produce hi quality movies to send to her mum abroad that is
the main purpose of the buy.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    TIA

No offence to you in-laws, but most mothers wouldn't know high quality
from medium quality. Added to which, unless you are going to send the
original DV tape to her, then the quality is going to degrade as soon as
you put it onto DVD or VHS.

A single CCD camcorder has very good quality these days, it's just that
the 3-CCD ones are between a little and a lot better - but it's all
    relative.

As for Sony, there are many on this group with their camcorders and don't
have trouble capturing the video. There are also some with non-Sony
camcorders that do have problems. YMMV.
