partly damaged JPEG files

Discussion in 'Photoshop Tutorials' started by Johannes Krueger, Oct 18, 2003.

  1. Hello,

I have some corrupted JPEG files which are displayed up to a certain
pixel row only, below is a grey rectangle.
Photoshop displays a warning "This document may be damaged" when
opening the file, ACDSee and Irfanview end up with the same results.
However, some applications' thumbnail view (e.g. Canon Zoombrowser)
shows the whole image as long as keeping it in a low resolution.

Is there a possibility to recover the remaining image data beyond the
    obviously corrupted block?

    Thanks for any advice,

    Johannes
