Hi. Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts/opinions on the Pentax
Optio 43WR. Is it any good?

The things I have been looking for in a digital camera are...
    1. Compact/portable.
    2. Excellent quality photos.
    3. Won't break if it gets a bit of rain on it. I'd probably use it a lot
on the beach and when travelling (ie. possible in rainforest/high
humidity areas), and don't know how well regular digitals cope with rain,
dust, sand etc. This Pentax looked like it could cope well.
    4. Good looks. I guess some people won't like this Pentax for it's
looks, but I think it looks pretty good.

Also, it seems to have features such as scene modes (which the Canon
Digital Ixus doesn't have), movie mode at 30fps & 640x480, panorama mode
    etc.

Anyone know what the battery life is like and picture quality? These are
    both important concerns.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have had the 43wr for a few days, and am really enjoying it. It is
the perfect camera for the beach.
Picture quality is excellent, and battery life is acceptable. I get
better results from rechargeable CRV3's than 2300 mah NIMH batteries.
The movie mode is really nice, a big improvement over the 33wr. I can
only get about 3 minutes of 30fps at 640x480 onto a 256mb high speed SD
card. Startup time is faster, and color seems better.
