Pentax UK - useless customer service?

    I sent in my Pentax DL DSLR about a month ago.

    The fax # for their service dept 01753 792794 turns out to go
    "upstairs" where somebody presumably puts them in the bin.

    The phone # 01753 792731 is useless. Just an automated switchboard
    with an answering machine most of the time.

    01753 792792 is better but the person dealing with it has a almost
    permanent answering machine.

    They've had the camera for a month now.

    Unfortunately Nikon UK proved to be even worse, last time I had a
    Nikon camera.

    Is this normal?

    Not for Nikon in my experience. I sent off a kit lens that was faulty,
    and they sent a new one within 10 days. This delay was because I went
    back to the store where I purchased the kit, and they sent it off..

    I have never used Pentax UK service for digital, but their service for
    film cameras was reasonably good.

    As for Nikon UK, their service for film and digital cameras is, and
    has always been, atrocious. Nikon offers a Pro scheme were you pay an
    annual fee for better service, but in my experience the Pro service
    was actually worse.
