[photo] Are you a leg man?

  2. Nice lighting, nice scene, very good composition.

    One thing puzzles me though - when I view the large image, his thorax
    (yellow bit!) seems unsharp - yet there are things in front and behind
    that appear to be in focus... odd.

    Well spotted - I was experimenting with focus stacking to get
    greater depth of field. 2 shots of same subject with different
    focus points, then put them into one picture. Unfortunately just
    missed getting sufficient overlap from the 2 shots.

    From now one you shall be dubbed "Eagle-Eye" :)

  4. Thanks! There I was thinking I was going crazy... I've not used that
    technique before, so it isn't something that occurs to me.One of these
    days I'll get more serious about macros.

    You are crazy. By the way, I've since ID'd it and it's not a
    gnat, it's a crane fly. I should look in my book before posting.
    Always getting my gnats, midges, and everything else in between
    mixed up.
