I like it. Most people use a Bible, and at first I thought "Is that a
dictionary?!?", then I realized which word was in focus and it all made
    sense. Good work.

Some of us have to work harder to get that "something" :)

Thanks Dave. I've seen similar shots before with wedding rings
and bibles. That's her engagement ring, we're not married yet,
and I'm not religious anyway :) Had to sneak the shot while she
was asleep, because that's the only time the ring isn't on.
    Thanks again.

Would make more even sense if the elastic band didn't obscure the
definition, and if the ring was presented at a better angle.
But I know it's easy to criticise, hopefully it's constructive.

No, I don't mind the criticism. I agree. I'm not making
excuses, but I had to take the pic at 5.30-6am while she was
asleep because that's the only time the ring is off and she
    wouldn't be aware of it.

Then I'm trying to set the book open and the pages kept flipping
and knocking the ring over - hence the rubber band. I was a bit
rushed and didn't occur to me at the time but at least the
important word was clear and focused.

The ring was also not behaving itself. I tried balancing it
vertically with the diamonds/setting on top, but it kept falling
over because the centre of gravity was too high. Tried sticky
taping it in place but that didn't work, and it needed to be that
orientation to get the shadow in that important shape. So I just
rotated it like you see and it did balance and I was happy
    getting the love-heart shadow.

It was all a little too stressful at 5.30am for my liking :)
Normally in situations like that I like to swear out loud, but I
    couldn't this time.

    Thanks for your comments.

Haha, love the pic Troy, ya big softie! But, I did notice on the left
hand side of the ring, that there is a loop-hole! ;-)

Hope you both have a great day/night, as all romantics do!

Haha - hadn't noticed that! It's a bit blurry, but is that
    subliminal/coincidence or what!
Thanks mate. Been good so far :)

Don't worry Troy, I'm sure she'll like the photo and that's what really counts. It wasn't taken to please Mr T or me for that matter.

Ha! Someone else noticed that. I hadn't. I had no idea what
other words were even on the pages. Only reason the ring wasn't
vertical was it kept falling over because centre of gravity was
    too high.

Good eye on your part though ;)

I thought it was extremely funny and coincidental about that
"loophole" thing. I don't think I'll bother mentioning that to
    Kristy ;)

My only suggestion Troy, would be that now Kristy has given her (hopefully very positive)opinion of
you great idea, how about spending some time to set it up again without the distractions. Find a way
to "glue" the ring in the right place, get the depth of field just perfect etc, etc.

I think it would make a great image for years to come.
