  1. Hello,
I would like to propose you my site on Calabria
http://photographie.locride.free.fr/index_en.html It is done with flash
software and if you have a rapid internet connection you can listen to
music. Enjoy and feel free to send your remarks, critics...
    Thanks

    imho, mate, bad site
i have a broadband connection and it still takes ages to load.
flash is the pits of the web - people think it's cool, but to a site visitor
it is just a distracting, time-consume, bandwidth gobbling annoyance

there's nothing on your site that i have found that cannot be done in simple
and fast html and jscript, so why use flash ???

shots are average - lots of people getting their legs and arms cut off by
your framing and some well dodgey exposures

  3. dont wanna sound harsh but i agre on most points. Average shots just shot in
black and white in the hope it will make the more artistic. And yeah, site
    design is an overkill.

  4. I stop photography right now !

If I look to the size of one flash file compared to the sum of the size of
    the
photos, it is less than twice bigger. But if you consider that with flash
    you can start
watching the photos before the file is completly downloaded (at 70% for me)
    the
difference between loadind jpg file and flash file is not so large
I use very few possibilities of flash but I don't know how to make in html a
    photo to disepear
while the other is coming, to listen or stop music, and flash is much easier
    than jvscript.
    I don't understand "dodgey" but I suppose that it's not a compliment !
Not so many legs ans arms cut off and in nearly all the cases I don't see
    where is the problem

I don't have flash on this computer, so your site is inaccessible to me
here, apart from being on dial-up.but at least you, unlike many other
people, had the decency to warn us in advance.

  7. Although Flash can be annoying at times, i see no reason (and no excuse) at
all for not having Flash installed. At the end of the day it's your problem
if you cannot access a site. Unless you dont have the administrative rights
    to instal it.

You have your *choice*, I have mine.
*We don't all access the net using pcs and macs*.
Therefore a pretty *good* reason is that Flash is not available for many
    systems.

I have Flash on the pc, and seldom see any real point/need in it in a photo
album type of site, but I suppose if it's fun to do, why not? (so long as
you know that you're limiting your potential audience, remembering also that
we don't all have access to fast connections, which can be a geographical
    issue)

I *do* see a strong point for the use of Flash on certain educational sites,
and am not an member of the 'Flash is Evil' brigade, though Javascript is
another issue altogether (off-topic for this group!).

I don't regard it as a problem: in fact, if you'd bothered to read my post
properly, you'd have seen that I was *complimenting* the original poster for
warning us about the Flash on her site so that I didn't waste my time going
to have a look. Most people aren't so considerate.

It may be that some people (you, for example?) don't know that Flash is not
available to all methods of accessing the Internet. At least if they know,
they can (if they have a 'hobby' site) make an informed choice. The choice
of making a site 'Flash-only' is now no longer available to *commercial* UK
websites. (This is way off-topic for this group, but if you're interested,
do a Google Groups search 'Flash' and 'Javascript' for threads in the web
    development groups)
