  2. I particulary like this one http://piggo.com/~troy/photos/2008_01_17/1280/img_5651.jpg
    and this one http://piggo.com/~troy/photos/2008_01_17/1280/img_5637.jpg
They are very sharp and the color is outstanding. Very nice work
    Troy.

    Nice stuff.

What did you do to diffuse the flash? They all look quite natural
except for the last one (not that it looks bad but the black
    background screams flash).

I call it the "Piggo Macro Diffuser 2000" - it's the bottom cut
off a 2litre milk container! Hahaha. Eat that Gary Fong.

Thanks Helen. I was particulary happy with the stripey eyed fly
also. Those stilt legged flies are so skittish, they take off on
the E-TTL preflash. This one actually stayed there, possibly due
to that spider web you see touching it's leg? It did take off on
photo attempt #2 so it wasn't actually stuck there :(

    Very nice.

The lighting looks very good, what did you have to do to get it to
    work?

Silly oversight on my part. Just had the diffuser too close to
the flash. Moved it further away and bingo. Advantage of using
milk bottles is I can modify them for free and unlimited mistakes
    :)

  17. Some great shots there. I love the 'hairy' bee.

I had read somewhere on Flickr about a milk bottle diffuser but never
got around to trying it out. Might be this weekends mission if it keeps
    raining.

    100mm macro lens on my 30D, 430EX speedlite off-camera, and a
hacked up plastic milk bottle as the diffuser. These photos show
most of it, but I'm not using the Fong knock-off any more.

This is what I was using before I got the flash bracket. It's a
    3L milk bottle:

This is my rig now, but I'm not using the Fong knockoff pictured.
    I'm using a 2L milk bottle bottom:
