    Hi,
I am using my epson stylus photo R360 printer with pictbridge function
because i cannot print directly from pc.

I succeeded to print a 10X15cm genuine .JPG image, using an usb key
containing an original file from my digital camera EOS 400D, and it is ok.

But some retouches are required and the modified photo file on the usb
key is ignored by the printer , as if the original picture taken by the
EOS canon contained a special information not present or corrupted in
the modified one (by theGimp or photoshop elements, same problem). Could
it be somewhere in the EXIF data ? Or something else ?

    Any idea ?
    Thanks for it.

Print color problems : from PC-linux, handlers and applications I use
(Gutentrint/Gimp/linux) are unable to treat print colors correctly, even
with argyll CMS profiling and calibration for the printer. Maybe I am
not using argyll CMS calibration correctly, since this process is rather
complex and must use scanner (I have no colorimeter device), screen and
printer in a very precise way.

I just have a dual boot PC with (an old) windows XP, and photoshop
elements to use as printing application , but this is very unpractical
and lengthy each time I want just a "test" print to check the picture
    out of screen on paper.
Note That pictbridge permits only few formats for printing pictures :
    Epson R360 is able to print 4x6", 5x7" larg 16x9 and A4.

    Regards

I have just succeeded in printing a modified image .jpg with pictbridge .

With theGimp, version 2.8.2 the .jpg file must be overwritten exported
    with some *advanced options*.
I used : no optimize, no progressive, save EXIF data, save thumbnail,
no xmp data saving, use quality settings from original image, no comment.
I am not sure all are mandatory, but this works, and have a good color
    rendering.
I did not try other tools like photoshop elements, but I hope there are
means to the same as Gimp.

    Regards.
