Nice job Hans! My only criticism is that the prop-driven planes all seem to
have stationary propellors. Try panning the plane and use a slower shutter
speed to blur the prop blades, and it won't look like it's ready to fall
    from the sky. :)

Thanks, and no it was not my first trip. I do not count it, but I've
probably been to America more than 50 times since 1981 when I came the first
time. I really like California, but have been to many other places.

It's the first time I went to see the bridge before sunrise, so I don't
know. But since there is a cold current coming down along the coast I would
think that it is common in the morning. During the day I've seen fog many
    times also.

    Thanks

I was going to see if I could catch the same conditions here but from what
you had just described I don't think its possible.

I will just have to wait for a really cold morning and wait for it to drop
below the level of the hill I am on.
Having said that, I don't have a frigen huge bridge as pretty as that in my
front yard, so no matter what it won't be as impressive as those pics.

http://www.totalcareits.com.au/andrewc/ some of the night shots (not in the
CITY of Melbourne ones) are looking out my front window here in OZ.

go out side, its pissing down!

  10. The Pacific Ocean off the coast here is carried by a current from Alaska
    - its cold, even in Summer (12-15°C) - the air over the water is nearly
as cold. Just a few kilometers inland daytime temperatures can hit
40°C. The Golden Gate is one of the few places along the coast where
the cool marine air can flow inland, and the air is drawn inland almost
every day to replace the rising, warmer air. The depth of the marine
layer can vary from just a few meters to as much as a kilometer (will
totally engulf the bridge and the city), or there can be a balance or
even a reverse flow with no marine layer at all. During as typical
sunmmer week, the GG Bridge will be in fog 6 nights out of 7 and maybe
stay foggy 2 days out of 7.

    Wow

This is all really weird to me as in Victoria Australia at least, its is
only fogy when it is cold.

Its sounds like a fascinating place to visit.

Sounds like San Fran Sisco may be on my list of destinations when I get
Married in the US one day.

    Yes by Elvis !

    Cool

Not dissimilar to Melbourne weather, we can have 4 Seasons in one day, we
    are renowned for it.

All up the coast along the Pacific Coast Highway 1 from Santa Barbara

Yes, this is a beautifull road. I took just a few pictures when I was there

The best known example is driving south on 101 across the bridge. In
the space of 10 minutes the temperature will drop by 20F degrees as
you go from inland to ocean.

I think you guys would like Melbourne.

Not for the Scientific climactic conditions, It can just have 4 Seasons in a
    day.
One moment its sunny and warn the next is pissing down and windy. Melbourne
is renowned for it, were as Queensland gets the tag "Beautiful one day
    perfect the next".

I like the thought that you may be able to drive for a while and cool down,
though I am sure its not that simple!

Haven't heard the Sister City one, not sure we would dare compare!

All sounds very exiting but I think I'll stay in good old safe Victoria, all
we have to worry about is the odd bushfire and that doesn't effect us were I
    live.
