Pinnacle Movie Box - Without Studio 9

Discussion in 'Amateur Video Production' started by Lauren the Ravishing, Aug 8, 2006.

  1. I own Pinnacle Movie Box. My understanding is that the only way to make
use of the video capture ability of this device is only through some
Pinnacle software. Does anyone know of any third-party drivers around
this, or do I need to buy another video capture card?

    Thank you,

I also have a Pinnacle Movie Box, USB 2.0, using Pinnacle 8 for
capture. To my knowledge, there is no third party software for this.

After capture, I use other software for editing and special effects.
Pinnacle is only on my system for the capture. It does do a very. very
good job at that though with their device. I wouldn't recommend the
new ones because of the software restrictions.

For PC capture hardware alternatives, look at Hauppauge, ADS Express,
Snazzi, or Plextor. Most are now using DVD-R's for this to a DVD-RW,
then editing on the computer after capture. I still prefer my PMB.

    Cheers...

MovieBox DV is seen as a firewire device. You can input analog in
addition to firewire. You won't be able to control your video camera
(pause, stop, etc) but you can capture fine.
