Pinnacle 8 is shit. constant crashes, dropped frames, error messages
with no explanatiion available from help software or online, no
custormer support.A nice, intuitive interface, but just does;nt work
now at all. I managed to get a couple of DVD's made, but now it is
not running. I haveuninstalled and reinstalled it, followed all the
    instructions, and upgraded.
Using gateway P4 2.4 Ghz, 512 mb RAM, 140 Gb hard drive, and only
uploading DV, but still crashes on edit or make DVD's.
ugh. the amount of time I wasted!
    What software WORKS???

If you have an ATI video card there is a dll you need to get rid of.
I forget the name but it changed my system from unusable to works
flawlessly when I got rid of that one dll.

i have the same problem with pinnacle. total crap, but i do like the
interface. however, i've discovered ulead videostudio 7. it's built for a
    beginner, but is more customizable.

for pinnacle, if you can remember the name of that dll, i'd like to see it.
    i'm having the same problems.

Studio 8 works great for me ( a middle-aged newbe). Maybe you're asking
too much of it. S8 was intended for the "home video" consumer.

I used pinnacle 8 for the past 2 years no problems NOW suddenly, I've
got dropped frames and I MEAN dropped i.e. it will go from no dropped
to suddenly 122 frames dropped in a moment. Crashes or freezed after
about 2 minutes of capture and if I can get it past 3 minutes without
capturing, the audio is missing in half the clip in edit mode. I
thought I had somehow downloaded an incompatable program so I bit the
bullet and just had my windows XP system reinstalled- still no good.
I've tried all the patches, everything suggested. Is it possible for
software to simply stop working? If so, can I use my dc10 plus capture
card with another software program or must I start all over with new
card and new software. I need this for my website and am at my wits
end! Any help would be appreciated.
PS if you live near Norwood MA I will pay you to come out and look at

Oh wait. you're on Windoze. Never mind, there's NOTHING in the Windy
    world that works.

Is it possible to capture with Ulead and use studio 8 to edit? I do
like their interface. If I go with Ulead what capture card would I
need? NOTHING seems to work with Dc10 plus except pinnacle software.
I'm leary trying to replace a capture card- someone else put it in for
    me originally.

Try Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere Pro, AVID, Edius ( Canopus) .. just for a

All awesome apps and far more capable than pinnacle's crap. FCP is dogwaste.

Cheaper and more efficient and better coded than FCP by far. And you can
choose the platform they run on rather than having to buy fine Chinese
plexiglass offered by Apple. If they spent as much time on the hardware as
they do on the case design they would have more thgan 3% market share.

    ass troll.
