Please Help with print size

Discussion in 'Photoshop Tutorials' started by Bill and Lisa, May 23, 2005.

  1. I am needing to save some jpegs in photoshop cs to be printed in 4x6, 5x7,
and 8x10. I had some printed at 4x6 and they are auto cropped. How can I
set these up so this does not happen. Thanks, Bill

You can't print the same file at all of those aspect ratios without
cropping. Assuming that you don't want to stretch or squash the image
in one dimension (distort the shape) you'll have to crop to print the
same image in three different aspect ratios.

You want to 'float' the full image into the given area without cropping - so
the easy way is to tell your printer to "scale to print" (or similar
language; it depends on the printer). If you can't do that, then use
Photoshop's File - Automate - Fit Image (for the easy way), or scale them
    yourself using Image Size.

yes my printer used to ask "full original" or cropped? 35mm slides never fit
    the 8x10 format
