Pradovit 2500 or 253

Discussion in '35mm Cameras' started by Giuseppe il Chimico, Aug 22, 2003.

  1. I want to upgrade my old projector with a new one.

    I've found (used) a

pradovit 2500 and a pradovit 253, both with colorplan lens.

I know the lens quality, but can the projector makes the difference in this case?
Will the 2500 be much better than the 253?

    Thank you in advance

  2. I made the mistake of buying a (new) 253 thinking that it was made by Leica. It
was seriously unreliable in the slide change mechanism needing expensive
repairs, and I eventually was told (by a Leica dealer) that it was made by
Kindermann. And there it was, in the Kindermann catalogue. If I'd wanted a
Kindermann I could have got one very much cheaper.
I now use Kodak Carousels and slide changes are now smooth, and no longer a
    matter for discussion or embarrassment.
I use Meopta Dia-Opticron projection lenses, and find they're at least equal to
my Colorplans. (Contrast wise, I think they're better, and I haven't noticed
    any loss of sharpness)

I think the CA 2500/2502 series is much more sturdy and featured a very
short dark phase between slides. I would be buying this one if I were doing
    slides again.
