Pre-purchase questions on Panasonic FZ-30 reliability and add-on lenses

I'm just about ready to order an FZ-30; unfortunately none of the local
"big box" shops carry it, and the only real cameras store around here
doesn't carry any Panasonic gear. So I'll probably buy online (I already
have a vendor selected) after I get just a little more info...

    (1) In general, how reliable is the Panasonic brand? When I first started
looking for a camera I was considering another model/brand as well, and the
local shop which also does repairs actually suggested I stay away from that
brand, because they get so many back in for repairs.

    (2) It looks like the FZ-30 can take add-on 50mm lenses, and the camera is
marketed along with a 2x optical, and wide angle, and a few filters. I've
only had point-and-shoot models in the past, so this is a newbie question-
can I stack lenses? I'm thinking I might want the polarization lens on top
of the 2x telephoto lens, things like that.

    (3) Should I buy the add-on lenses that are marketed with the camera, or am
I likely to do better (cheaper, and more selection) at camera stores and/or
ebay? For example, if they make something more than a 2x zoom add-on (say,
4x) that would definitely be of interest. Otherwise I need to buy them at
the same time as the camera to get them covered by my extended purchase
    warranty.

    Thanks,
    Keith

I have had an FZ20 for about 8 months without problems. I can't say for
their cameras, but other Panasonic goods have given me years and years
of reliable service - I have great faith in their quality.

The FZ30, like the FZ20, has a 12x zoom, BTW. I tend to doubt that
lenses from other sources will fit a Panasonic, but thats not based on
    any facts.

    Good Luck,

The only add-ons might be a closeup lens. The FZ30 will also go to 19X by
using less of the sensor, but at the cameras megapixels that would only drop
    you down to about 4.
I'm dying to get one. Had enough of 3X cameras.
