Preferred format for video that you download?

  1. Hello everyone,

I am nearing the completion of a web-site to share little videos, stunts
and other random craziness that my friends and I have taped over the
years in our small town, but I was not sure what format people prefer
for downloading and watching small clips and videos?

I am currently encoding the clips using the Divx video codec with LAME
MP3 for the audio. Divx seemed like the best option since it is free
and there is a divx player available for the 3 most common OS's people
are running (Windows, Linux, Mac). I am also including a link to open a
window that will "stream" an embedded Quicktime version so that people
with broadband can watch the videos without downloading if they have the
Quicktime plugin (unfortunately, it appears there is not a plugin for
    Linux?).

I was inspired to ask for people's opinions after the nice message from
Coffee Films and the great feedback that has been generated.

If interested, you can check out the rough site at:
    http://www.sector512productions.com

Thanks for your time and any feedback/ideas will be greatly appreciated,
    Tom
