I keep hearing how Adobe Premiere is supposed to be a phenomenal program,
however my first attempt at creating an avi file with 5.1 has run into
problems. It gets about 2 hours into the rendering then I get an error. Any
suggestions as to why this might happen?

  2. What vintage operating system are you using? Are you running into a
file-size limitation on your hard drive?

    PIII 550, Win98 SE, 384 megs RAM, 7200 60 Gig h/d dedicated for capture.
The particular source file that I'm using is only about 1.8 Gigs to begin
with. I believe the file size limit on Win98 is 4 gigs, correct?

  4. 5.1 is an ancient version of Premiere. I thought it was the worst version up
till that point. So don't judge Premiere by a buggy 6 year old version. Windows
98SE is also ancient and buggy. I recently threw a copy of Premiere 5.1 in the
garbage. I didn't need it and I thought it was worthless even to give someone
    for free.

You might be running into the 2GB file size limit. I wasn't able to limit file
size problems until I switched to NTFS, which doesn't have a real limit in file
