Premiere & using Virtual Clips in more than one Project

Discussion in 'Amateur Video Production' started by Jim Patterson, Nov 19, 2003.

  1. Is there a way to use a virtual clip in more than one project? Or move
edits of clips from one project to another? I have some edits that are
just perfect in one project's timeline and would like to import them to
    another. (I have Premiere 6.5.)

Save the project under a different name, and start from there.

What I do is make a virtual clip, click on it (to highlight it) and
then, File>Export Clip>Movie to save it as an .avi file that can be
reused as much as I want.

You've hit one of the fundamental limitations of Premiere 6.5. There
is no way to move edits from one project to another (aside from
rendering out the sequence). I'm not sure whether newer versions fix
    this shortcoming.

    Regards,
