Printing digital pictures.

Discussion in 'UK Photography' started by Michael Chare, Apr 11, 2008.

  1. After several years of owning digital cameras I decided to print some of my
pictures, so I took a memory card to Boots and set the machine to print
using the smallest format, 6"x4". It was not till I saw the pictures that I
realised my mistake: The pocket camera, like many of its contermparies takes
4:3 pictures. How silly, minimally the machine should have drawn my
attention to the fact that the pictures would be cropped.

However an advert with the pictures drew my attention to the existance of
web sites that you can upload your pictures to. ( A whole new service that I
did not know existed, but obvious when you really think about it.)

I have found that there a number of these web sites and some offer a range
of 4:3 pictures sizes. Cany anyone recommend a particular site to use (or
    avoid.)

http://www.photobox.co.uk/ have been good for me. Nearly always next
day delivery, and reasonable pricing, with top quality.

How silly is the fact that the Quick labs have not kept up to date. Only the
top end bridge and DSLR offer the chose of 3:2 format and who wants to print
    6 X 4 from them
